One of the best ways to build traffic to your website is through organic search traffic. Organic traffic is visitors coming to your pages through the use of a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, or MSN. This type of traffic is considered to be one of the best types of traffic because it is free, usually well targeted, and reaches a huge audience. Increasing your organic traffic can substantially boost your website profits. So how exactly does one get indexed? The key to getting indexed is having unique content and having inbound links to your pages. Additionally, you can speed up the process by submitting a site map to various search engines. At the very least you should submit your sitemap to the "big 3"; Google, Yahoo, and MSN. I'm not going to get into the details of creating a sitemap in this post. Just realize that it is a very important part of promoting your website. As I said before, you should submit your sitemap to the three major search engines. To make this easier, they have created webmaster toolkits. From these toolkits you can submit your sitemap and also track your indexing stats, crawl rate, etc. In other words, it is a wise idea to sign up for them. Each one is free and easy to do. Here they are: Google Webmaster Tools Yahoo! Site Explorer MSN Webmaster Center
